In our city, it is possible to complete the entire study path from early childhood education to higher education.
New school and cultural center
After several years of preparatory work, the Saarijärvi City Council unanimously decided at its meeting on 22 October 2018 to build a new school and cultural center. In proportion to the size of the city, the giant construction project was described in several speeches by the council as historic and significant for the vitality of Saarijärvi. When the 12,500 m2 complex of more than 800 students is completed, the school community, as well as adult education center and music school, will receive new, healthy facilities in the area of the school and cultural center. The first phase of the construction was completed in November 2020 and the second phase will be completed in late 2022.
The Tarvaala Bioeconomy Campus
Campus offers degree programs leading to secondary and university of applied sciences degrees, as well as shorter postgraduate and in-service training. On the bioeconomy campus, the student can flexibly transition from student to entrepreneur in a secure supported environment. Education is organized by Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences and the North Central Finland University of Applied Sciences, POKE.
