Finland is sixth in the world when it comes to the amount of marshland. You can fall in love with marsh in the Salamajärvi National Park – its tranquility and unique fragrances. Select one of the marked paths from 2,5 to 58 kilometres, part of a more extensive hiking route network called Peuran polku,”the path of the Forest Reindeer”. You may also meet the regular inhabitants, Finnish forest reindeer, enjoying the offerings of nature.
The national park is famous for its trout that you can fish in Koirajärvi Lake.
Accommodation is available e.g. at the Koirasalmi Nature Information Hut, which also houses the national park visitor centre and where you can buy fishing permits.
Other national parks in the region are the Pyhä-Häkki national park and the Etelä-Konnevesi national park.
