At the footsteps of Runeberg

Finnish national poet Runeberg lived in Saarijärvi in the 1820s, in the period when he and his fellows were creating the Finnish national identity and the essence of being Finnish. The landscapes of Saarijärvi were a sourse of inspiration for many of his works, including what later became the lyrics of the Finnish national anthem.

In Saarijärvi you can get in touch with the same essence of Finland. Try dancing at the traditional dance halls or enjoy a quiet rowing on a calm lake. Ski through hundreds of years old spruce forests. Get inspired in Saarijärvi, find the essence of your holiday.
